Foresters Grind Out 4-2 Win Over (RV) Grace
WARSAW, Ind. - The Huntington women's tennis team (8-10, 2-2) delivered a statement win Thursday afternoon, defeating Grace 4–2 in Crossroads League play at the Warsaw Racquet Club.
Despite no longer appearing in the NAIA poll themselves, the Foresters rose to the occasion against a Grace squad currently receiving votes, putting together one of their most complete performances of the season.
Huntington secured the crucial doubles point by winning two of the three matches. Coby Sander and Ashley Bucur earned a 6–4 victory at No. 2 doubles, while Addison Mast and Tiziana Rizzato dominated at No. 3 with a 6–1 win to give the Foresters an early 1–0 advantage.
In singles play, Huntington's depth proved to be the difference. Mast extended the lead with a straight-set 6–3, 6–2 win at No. 3, followed by Ashley Bucur's commanding 6–1, 6–1 victory at No. 4. Tiziana Rizzato continued the momentum at No. 5, cruising to a 6–1, 6–3 win.
With the Foresters firmly in control thanks to their strong showing in the middle of the lineup, action was halted at No. 6 singles compliments of the clinch-rule. In the meantime, Grace picked up points at No. 1 and No. 2 singles.
The victory marks Huntington's first win over Grace since September 22, 2021, when the Foresters claimed a 4–3 decision. Next up for the Foresters, they will be on the road against #22 Bethel on Saturday, with the matches set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
