Huntington Opens Season with Commanding 6–1 Victory at DePauw
Greencastle, Ind. – The Huntington University women's tennis team started the 2025–26 fall season in dominant fashion, earning a decisive 6–1 victory over DePauw University on the road Wednesday evening.
The Foresters wasted no time setting the tone, claiming the doubles point behind wins from Tiziana Rizzato / Yariange Bello (6-3) and Ashley Bucur / Coby Sander (6-2).
Momentum carried into singles play, where Huntington controlled five of six courts. Isabella Herrera opened her year with a sharp 6-1, 6-0 win at the top spot, while Addison Mast followed with a strong 6-4, 6-3 victory at No. 2. Rizzato (6-3, 6-1), Bello (6-1, 6-2), and Bucur (6-0, 6-0) each rolled to straight-set wins, securing the Foresters' season-opening triumph.
With the win, Huntington begins the season at 1–0 and looks to build on its strong start when they travel to Valparaiso on Saturday. This is the first season that the fall portion of the tennis schedule consists of non-conference matchups before the spring conference season begins in late March.
The Huntington University Foresters compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 181 NAIA All-America honors and 631 All-America Scholar Athlete honors.
