HU Battles No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan to Scoreless Draw

MARION, Ind. - The Huntington men's soccer team spoiled No. 10 Indiana Wesleyan's Senior Night with a gritty 0-0 draw Saturday under the lights in Marion. The result marked just the second time this season the Wildcats have been held scoreless.

While IWU fired off 22 shots compared to HU's seven, the contest told a much more even story statistically when it came to shots on goal, which slightly favored the hosts, 5-2. Keeper Jorge Gonzalez anchored a resilient Forester defense with five saves to record his fourth shutout of the season.

The stalemate continues Huntington's strong recent trend against IWU, as the Wildcats haven't topped the Foresters since 2015—a stretch now standing at seven HU wins and four ties over their last 11 meetings.

With the draw, Huntington moves to 2-6-4 overall and 0-3-1 in Crossroads League play, while Indiana Wesleyan sits at 7-2-3, 2-0-2 CL. The Foresters return to King Stadium on Saturday to host Saint Francis at 2:00 p.m.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 181 NAIA All-America honors and 631 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations. U.S. News & World Report ranks Huntington among the best colleges in the Midwest.
