Foresters Clipped by (RV) Cougars Under the Lights

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. - The HU men's soccer team came up short in a 2-1 decision under the lights at Spring Arbor's Cougar Soccer Complex Wednesday night. Both teams entered the evening searching for their first Crossroads League win, with the Cougars—who are receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll—breaking through for their fifth straight victory over the Foresters.

Spring Arbor (6-5-1, 1-1-1) struck first in the 20th minute and carried the 1-0 advantage into halftime before HU's Henry Heaney netted his first career goal as a Forester in the 65th minute, finishing off a setup from Abraham Abdoul Kadri to pull the visitors even. The Cougars responded quickly, however, reclaiming the lead just six minutes later and holding on the rest of the way.

Despite being edged 16-12 in total shots, Huntington kept pace offensively and forced four saves from the Cougar keeper. Jorge Gonzalez tallied five stops in goal for HU.

With the loss, the Foresters drop to 2-6-3 overall and 0-3-0 in league play. HU now turns its attention to another nationally ranked opponent, as they travel to #10 Indiana Wesleyan on Saturday for a 6:30 p.m. kickoff.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. In the past decade, Huntington has produced 181 NAIA All-America honors and 631 All-America Scholar Athlete honors. Huntington University is a comprehensive Christian college of the liberal arts offering graduate and undergraduate programs in more than 70 academic concentrations.
