Foresters Thrill Home Crowd with Sweep of Grace

Huntington, Ind. – The Platt Arena crowd had plenty to cheer about Saturday afternoon as the Huntington volleyball team delivered another dominant performance, sweeping Grace (25-11, 25-23, 26-24). The Foresters improved to 15-4 on the season and 5-3 in Crossroads League play with the victory.

HU wasted no time setting the tone, dominating the opening set with a sizzling .344 hitting percentage while holding the Lancers to .000. The Foresters then showed poise under pressure, fending off late Grace rallies in both the second and third frames to close out the sweep in style.

Haley Kruse powered the attack with 10 kills, while Maggie Hollon (7), Leah Carter (6), and Allie Boyer (5) kept the offense balanced and unpredictable. Maisyn Robrock added five more kills, and setter Lauren Ross turned in a stellar double-double with 13 assists and 16 digs. Kennedy Urban nearly matched her with 11 assists and 14 digs.

"I am proud of how he fought for our lives to come back and finish set three to end in a sweep. The skill set of finishing is crucial in this conference", said head coach Kelsey Herber.  "I thought our team defense from both the front and back-court was excellent today and it fueled our offense."

The back row was relentless as Huntington racked up 84 digs, led by libero Layla Meyer's match-high 20. At the net, the Foresters formed a wall with 12 team blocks, highlighted by Trevyn Terry's four block assists and Boyer's four combined stops.

Grace (10-10, 3-5 CL) was unable to put together enough offense against a Foresters defense that kept the Lancers off balance all afternoon.

With the sweep, Huntington not only secures back-to-back league wins but also keeps building momentum with one match remaining in the first half of conference play. The Foresters host Spring Arbor Wednesday at 7:00 p.m.
