Robrock notches 3,000th assist in HU's 3-1 win at Goshen
GOSHEN, Ind. – Senior Morgan Robrock reached a significant milestone in the HU volleyball team's 3-1 win, 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 25-20, over Goshen Saturday afternoon at the Ruth Gunden Gymnasium. The 5-11 setter claimed her 3,000th assist early in the third set. She currently sits fifth in the Huntington record books for career assists.
"I am so proud of Morgan in reaching her 3,000th assist today," said Coach Kelsey Herber. "That is a milestone that few setters achieve in their careers.
"She has made a significant impact on this team, this program and my life. I'm honored to be her coach."
Robrock came into the match needing 25 assists and finished with 46 bringing her career total to 3,021, just 145 away from matching Jennings Tacosik who sits fourth with 3,160 assists. The Huntington native also tallied ten digs, four kills and two blocks on the day to lead her team to the regular season sweep over the Maple Leafs.
Offense was by committee for Herber and crew with Leah Carter pacing the guests with 12 kills on 22 swings for a .409 hitting percentage. Haley Kruse and Trevyn Terry finished each put down 11 while Maisyn Robrock finished with nine kills and Kortney Grimm added seven.
Defensively, Layla Meyer took charge of the backline to the tune of 19 digs. Additionally, Kruse and Nigella Reck scrounged around for 11 and ten digs respectively. At the net, Carter matched Robrock's blocks with two to share team-high honors in snuffs.
Today's win is the second in as many days as HU topped Taylor last night to improve to 16-11 overall, 6-9 in league play. The victory also secures a spot for the Foresters in postseason play.
Huntington heads to Mount Vernon on Wednesday. It'll mark their fourth straight league match on the road.
