Bio
Having retired after serving 15 years at the helm of the HU women's tennis program, Roger Ferguson returns for his second season as an assistant coach.
During his 15 years as the head coach, Ferguson's athletes earned 24 All-Conference and 31 NAIA Scholar Athlete honors. Four out of his last nine seasons, his squad cracked into the national rankings by receiving votes at some point each year. His teams have also finished third in the Crossroads League regular season standings and logged double-digit wins four times in the last nine years.
Prior to taking over the women's reins, Ferguson spent two years as the men's head coach when he first joined the HU coaching ranks in 2009. In his second year as the men's skipper, the Foresters were the conference regular season and tournament champions and for their efforts, earned the program's 7th berth to the NAIA National Tournament. Ferguson was named the league's Coach of the Year that same year as voted on by his peers.
Ferguson formerly served as the head men’s tennis coach at Blackhawk Christian High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Prior to that, Ferguson was an assistant women’s tennis coach at both Blackhawk Christian and New Haven High Schools. He has served as a volunteer tennis instructor with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and is a certified instructor with the United States Professional Tennis Association.
Ferguson is an Intercollegiate Tennis Association referee and a member of the Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association. He also has his United States Tennis Association Sport Science certification and is a USPTA and WTCA certified coach.
