Bio

Kreg Eckert is in his third season as head coach of the Huntington University women’s tennis program and serves as Director of Tennis for both the men’s and women’s programs.

Eckert has helped steady and elevate the Forester women’s program, guiding HU to 13 wins last season - the program’s highest total since 2017-18. This year, the Foresters also earned votes in the NAIA national polls. Over his short tenure, Huntington athletes have collected three All-Conference honors and nine NAIA Scholar-Athlete selections, reflecting success both competitively and academically.

A veteran coach with nearly two decades of experience, Eckert previously served as an assistant with the Huntington men’s program, where he was named the 2021 ITA East Region Assistant Coach of the Year. Prior to that, he spent nine seasons as head coach of the Forester men’s team, compiling 72 wins and leading HU to a Crossroads League regular-season championship in 2013. During that tenure, his athletes earned 18 All-Conference honors and 13 NAIA Scholar-Athlete distinctions. 

A graduate of Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a Bachelor of Science in Geology, Eckert spent 25 years with Tennant Company before retiring and returning his focus to coaching. He and his wife, Angi, reside in Roanoke. Their four children, Justin, Jessica, Isaac, and Anna, are all Indiana residents.
