Sweep Over USF Sends Top-Seeded Foresters to Final Four
HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The top-seeded Huntington men's tennis team continued its dominant form Monday afternoon, sweeping #8-seed Saint Francis 4–0 in the Crossroads League tournament quarterfinals at Klopfenstein Courts to advance to the semifinals.
As the No. 1 seed, HU handled business efficiently in a clinch-play format. Huntington secured the doubles point and followed with three singles victories to seal the win. Once the fourth point was clinched, all remaining courts were stopped.
The Foresters established control early in doubles play, with strong performances at No. 1 and No. 3 to take the opening point. That momentum carried into singles, where Huntington's top of the lineup delivered in straight sets.
Julian Tantera set the tone with a convincing win at No. 1, followed by Martin Capdevilla at No. 2 to extend the lead to 3-0. Matea Batista then closed the door at No. 4, securing the fourth and final point needed for the team victory.
The win marks Huntington's 11th consecutive sweep over Saint Francis, continuing a dominant stretch in the series.
With the victory, the Foresters move on to the Crossroads League Tournament semifinals, where they will face No. 4 seed Marian on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Sutter Tennis Center on the campus of Indiana Wesleyan University.
