SYLVANIA, Ohio - The #RV Forester men's soccer team dropped a 3-1 decision to Lourdes University Wednesday afternoon at Wildcat Stadium. The loss is HU's first to the Grey Wolves since 2021, moving the recent series rivalry to 3-1 in favor of Huntington.
After the hosts struck first in the 24th minute on a header, Coach Potter's crew continued to press and were rewarded late in the half. Huntington created several dangerous chances before finally capitalizing with 11 minutes remaining. A misplayed back pass by Lourdes ricocheted off the post that transfer Thiago Fernando pounced on, juked the keeper and slotted home the equalizer—HU's first goal of the young season.
The match remained deadlocked until the 77th minute when the Grey Wolves converted on a fastbreak following a turnover at midfield. Less than a minute later, the hosts doubled their lead with a strike from distance that put the game out of reach.
Lourdes finished with a 9-3 advantage in shots, while HU keeper Jorge Gonzalez recorded four saves in the setback. Huntington (0-1-1) returns to King Stadium on Saturday to host Holy Cross at noon.
