Bio

Mikayla (Carpenter) West returns to her alma mater for her fifth season as an assistant volleyball coach. Prior to stepping to the sidelines, she spent two years in a Forester uniform, having transferred from Trine University.

West brings three years of coaching experience to the position, most recently coaching for Munciana Indy Volleyball Club. Her resume also includes serving as the Noblesville High School varsity assistant in 2020. Before that, she spent time at Brownsburg East Middle School as the seventh grade head coach and eighth grade assistant, during which she also coached at The Academy (Grand Park).

During her time at Trine, West was tabbed Second Team All-Conference each year. She made her way into the Thunder top ten record books in six different categories, highlighted by finishing second all-time in career digs per set (4.83), second all-time in total digs in a season (536) and third (4.83) and fourth (4.83) in digs per set in a season. Her success as a defensive specialist followed her to HU, where she earned Honorable Mention All-Conference accolades as a senior.

West graduated from Huntington in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education. She is currently a second grade teacher in the Huntington County Community School Corporation. She and her husband, Connor, also an HU alum, and two sons reside in Huntington.
