Bio

Kelsey Herber enters her eighth season as head coach of the Huntington University women’s volleyball program, bringing a deep connection to the Forester tradition as a former student-athlete and assistant coach before taking over the program in the fall of 2019.

Under Herber’s leadership, the Foresters reached a major milestone in 2026, earning their first NAIA National Tournament appearance since 1993. HU responded with a statement win in the opening round, completing a reverse sweep over Viterbo to advance to the final site as one of the nation’s top 24 teams. The Foresters finished the season 25-10, marking the program’s highest win total in two decades.

Herber has continued to elevate the program’s competitive and academic standard. Over her seven seasons, her teams have produced 34 All-Conference selections, including 2026 Crossroads League Libero of the Year Layla Meyer, along with 38 NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors.

Previously, Herber spent eight years with Empowered Volleyball Academy, serving six seasons as a coach and two years as director of mental health, further strengthening her focus on both performance and athlete well-being.

A former Forester outside hitter, Herber completed her playing career as an All-Conference Honorable Mention selection in her final season.

Beyond volleyball, Herber is an on-air radio personality with Star 88.3 on the “Josh and Friends” show. She was named the 2024 Marc Davidson Coach of the Year by the Northeast Indiana Fellowship of Christian Athletes and was also recognized as a member of the Fort Wayne Business Weekly Forty Under 40 class of 2024.

Herber holds a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Fusion Media from HU and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Huntington. She and her husband, Zach, a fellow HU graduate, reside in Roanoke with their children, Ren and twins Haven and Greyson.
