Saint Mary's scores in each half to blank HU 2-0

NOTRE DAME, Ind.  –  The Belles of Saint Mary's College held the Huntington women's soccer team scoreless Wednesday night at Purcell Athletic Fields in a 2-0 match that favored the hosts.

The loss drops HU to 4-3-1 on the season while the Belles improve to 3-3 thanks to a goal just before halftime and another in the 75th minute. The guests fired off nine shots with only one on target while SMC posted 13 shots with nearly half on frame.

Ireland Aerni took the loss in net. The junior keeper finished with four saves.

Tonight's contest marks the last non-conference matchup of the year as the Foresters now turn their attention to league play. HU is at home on Saturday to host Goshen at 1:30 p.m. for their Crossroads League opener.

The Huntington University Foresters compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women.
