(RV) HU Dominates Both Ends in 89–23 Win Over Pomeroys
HUNTINGTON, Ind. - The #RV HU women's basketball team put on a dominant display Saturday afternoon at Platt Arena, cruising past St. Mary-of-the-Woods 89–23. The win marks HU's second victory in three days and their first meeting with the Pomeroys since 2011—a game the Foresters also won 75–66.
It was all Huntington from the start as the Foresters' defense suffocated the Pomeroys, holding them to single digits in all four quarters and just 14.5 percent shooting for the game. HU's balanced attack on both ends of the floor was on full display, as nine different players scored and the team shot a collective 52.8 percent from the field, including 52 points in the paint.
Junior Liv Raby anchored the Foresters with a double-double of 11 points and 14 rebounds. Huntington dominated the glass, especially on the offensive boards, pulling down 18 offensive rebounds, two more than SMWC's 16 defensive boards, and converting those second chances into 20 points.
Sophomore Lauryn Merritt came off the bench to pour in a career-best 11 points on 5-for-6 shooting to go along with eight rebounds. Allison Price continued her strong start to the season, finishing with 17 points, seven assists and four rebounds, while Addie Shank added 13 points and nine rebounds in an efficient effort.
Every Forester saw the floor and scored at least five points in what was a resounding team victory. Huntington dished out 24 assists on 38 made field goals and forced 18 turnovers that turned into 28 points on the other end.
With the win, Huntington moves to 2–0 on the year. The Foresters now turn their attention south as they travel to Kentucky next week to face No. 25 Cumberlands on Thursday before a Friday matchup at Lindsey Wilson.
