Bio
Vanessa Macias-Hannie enters her second season as associate head coach of the Huntington University cross country program, bringing a unique combination of coaching success, alumni pride and deep ties to the Forester community.
Prior to joining the Huntington coaching staff, Macias-Hannie spent five seasons as head coach at Norwell High School, where she established a culture of excellence both on and off the course. Under her leadership, the Knights captured a regional championship and two sectional titles while producing 19 All-Conference performers. She also coached a state Top-20 finisher and helped develop two student-athletes who went on to compete at the NCAA Division I level.
A familiar face, Macias-Hannie competed for Huntington's cross country and track & field programs from 2005-09 under legendary head coach Tom King. Her experience as a student-athlete at Huntington, combined with her success as a coach, gives her a unique perspective in mentoring the next generation of Forester runners.
In addition to her role with the cross country program, Macias-Hannie serves as an assistant coach for the Forester track & field team, working primarily with distance athletes.
Beyond athletics, Macias-Hannie serves as Huntington University's Event and Special Projects Coordinator in the Advancement Office. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science from Huntington University in 2009.
Vanessa and her husband, Cody, a fellow Huntington graduate, reside in Huntington with their three daughters.
