Strong Start Lifts Huntington to Fourth at Pilot Invitational

SOUTH BEND, Ind. - The Forester men's golf team turned in a strong showing Friday, finishing fourth out of 11 teams at the Pilot Invitational held at Blackthorn Golf Club. Originally scheduled as a two-day event, weather forced the tournament into a single day, with Huntington posting a two-round score of 613 (295-318).

The Foresters came out firing in the opening round, carding an impressive 295 behind a trio of career performances. Mason Reeves, Trey Spring and Carter Hall each recorded collegiate personal bests to pace HU's early surge.

Hall led the way overall, tying for 12th in a field of 63 golfers with a 150 (72-78). Steven Webb and Spring both finished tied for 18th at 154, with Webb delivering steady rounds of 77-77 while Spring followed his career-best 73 with an 81. Reeves wasn't far behind, tying for 24th with a 155 (73-82), while Josh Kling rounded out the lineup in a tie for 50th at 163 (81-82).

Despite a tougher second round, Huntington's opening 18 proved enough to secure a top-four finish in a competitive field. Taylor University claimed the team title with a 578, followed by Grace College (582) and Bethel University (590), with the Foresters just behind at 613.

Huntington will look to carry that momentum into its next outing at the Sagamore Shootout on April 20.
