Bio

Shawnna Esque is in her sixth season as the head coach for the cheer program. The Fort Wayne native comes to HU from Grace College where she was a four-year member of the Lancer cheer squad.

At GC Esque helped her team to a second-place finish in the large co-ed division at the CCA Nationals in 2015. During her time in red and white, she also racked up several individual awards which include being voted MVP as a senior in addition to receiving the Coach’s Award and NAIA Character’s Award in 2017 and the Mental Attitude Award in 2016.

Esque also brings three years of coaching experience to the position having most recently served as an assistant at her alma mater for a year. She also spent a year as the head JV and freshman cheer coach at South Side High School preceded by a year-long stint as the cheer coach for UW Sports Ministry.

Esque graduated from Grace in 2018 with a BS in Criminal Justice and Counseling. She also holds an AACCA certification from the NFHS. In addition to coaching, she works in the office at Northrop High School and serves as the worship leader and children’s church coordinator at Bible Baptist Church.
